We are learning from Global Affairs Canada that 323 Canadians on board the Diamond Princess cruise ship off Japan have now tested positive for COVID 19.

In an earlier statement, Global Affairs said Canadian passengers would be screened before getting on an evacuation aircraft ultimately headed for CFB Trenton.

Fifteen Canadians on board the ship had previously tested positive for the potentially deadly virus. Of the 3700 passengers on the ship, 256 are listed as Canadian.

Except for those who were taken off the ship to be cared for at Japanese hospitals, passengers have been stuck waiting out a quarantine period on the ship, so far for 10 days.

Then there is the cruise ship off the shore of Cambodia where about 250 Canadians have tested negative for COVID 19.

There are close to 1900 new cases and another 98 deaths, bringing the total number of dead in mainland China to 1868 and total confirmed cases to over 72,000.
