A woman who arrived from China Friday is Toronto’s latest presumptive case of the novel coronavirus known as COVID-19.
She showed up at North York General Hospital’s emergency department with a mild cough that was improving.
Being mildly ill she was discharged and went into self-isolation.
The Public Health Ontario lab’s confirmed her case is presumptive positive and her sample’s been sent to the National Microbiology Lab in Winnipeg for confirmation.
Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. David Williams, says given her clinical assessment and history, there’s a ”low risk” that she was infectious.
The woman wore a mask throughout her travels back to Toronto, and since returning, she has had very limited exposure to others.
In fact they were already in isolation.
On the same day the woman returned to Toronto, the province said all three of its cases are now cleared of the illness.
A married Toronto couple and a university student in London, all of whom had recently been to China.
