In addition to a new Ontario case of COVID-19 announced Thursday night and 2 earlier in the day, we are learning of another one Friday morning.

Word from Ontario’s Ministry of Health is the patient had recently travelled to Las Vegas.

This is considered the province’s 24th case of the new coronavirus, four of which have been resolved.

The case announced Thursday night is a Mississauga man in his 60s who returned from a cruise out of San Francisco.

Peel Region’s Medical Officer of Health Dr. Jessica Hopkins says the man was assessed at Trillium Health Partners on Wednesday after returning to Canada on February 28th.

“We are currently speaking to them and getting a detailed history of any contacts they may have had in the community between the time they returned to Canada and then when they presented to hospital and then subsequently entered self-isolation. So we’ll be following up with any individuals with whom this person has had close contact,” Hopkins explained to CP24.

Toronto’s Medical officer of Health, Dr. Eileen de Villa, plans to provide an update on COVID 19 later Friday morning.
