A man in his 50s who had been treated at Milton District and Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospitals for an underlying health condition; an apparent case of pneumonia, is the second death in Ontario related to the coronavirus.

Halton Region Medical Officer of Health Dr. Hamidah Meghani says he did not travel outside the country nor did he have contact with anyone known to have the virus.

Ontario’s first COVID-19-related death was a 77-year-old Barrie man.

Earlier, health officials confirmed 43 new cases in Ontario; the largest daily increase since the province’s first positive case on January 25.

As expected, Queen’s Park has unanimously passed two pieces of legislation that will protect the jobs of those who self-isolate and help keep store shelves stocked.

The premier’s announced all renewals for drivers licenses, licence plate stickers and health cards are suspended; meaning expired documents can be used for now.

Since Telehealth is the first point of contact for many with questions, 1,300 new phone lines have been added, with the province working to add more to further reduce wait times.

Meanwhile, Tribunals Ontario will not issue any new eviction orders until further notice.

Sheriff’s offices have been asked to postpone any evictions set for this week.
