As the spread of COVID-19 continues to slow, some seasonal businesses are being allowed to reopen Monday in Ontario.

“We have the groundwork in place, we have the critical pieces we need in place, we have a framework and targets,” Premier Doug Ford announced on Friday, “We have clear sector-specific health guidelines, and with these critical pillars in place, we are in the position now to look at what we can start to open up safely.”

The businesses being allowed to reopen in Ontario on Monday include garden centres which offer curbside pick up, lawn care and landscaping companies and automatic car washes. Auto dealerships may reopen but by appointment only, and owners of marinas and golf courses can prepare to reopen.

In Quebec, home to more than half of Canada’s coronavirus cases, including deaths related to the illness, retail stores outside of Montreal may reopen, while those in the greater Montreal area may reopen Monday May 11th.

In Manitoba, museums, libraries and retail businesses including restaurant patios may re-open Monday May 4th, though at only half capacity.

And non essential medical services, such as dentistry and physiotherapy have been given the go ahead to resume in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.

In the Atlantic provinces, public health services and outdoor recreation are slowly being allowed relaxed restrictions.

British Columbia’s premier has yet to release that province’s reopening plan, but details are promised this week.
