ONTARIO ANNOUNCES LONG-TERM CARE REVIEW, SYSTEM ''BROKEN'' AFTER ''YEARS OF NEGLECT''

A review of the provincial long-term care home system will take place after COVID-19.
The minister responsible with the announcement on social media.
Merrilee Fullerton said on Twitter, ”the system is broken” and has ”endured years of neglect.”
She does not provide any details of what it will look like, saying only ”all forms of review are on the table.”
”There will come a time to discuss the scale, scope, and terms of a review, but our priority today must be to protect people’s lives and continue to bend the curve,” Fullerton tweeted.
There have been outbreaks at 225 homes with 681 resident deaths.
The military was called in last month to help at five of the worst hit homes including Orchard Villa, Altamont Care, Eatonville Care Centre, Hawthorne Place and Holland Christian Homes’ Grace Manor.
