Five soldiers have been infected with COVID-19 while helping out at long-term care facilities in Quebec and Ontario; four in Quebec the other in Ontario.
One Armed Forces member was assisting at the Villa Val des Arbres in the Montreal suburb of Laval.
That soldier, who has not been identified, was part of a team of members who arrived there April 20.
After the soldier tested positive, the entire team was removed from the home.
The second case in Quebec is said to be a military dentist at a long-term care home; possibly in the Montreal-area.
National Defence has not provided details about the other cases.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Ottawa’s considering paying those soldiers extra, as it would on hazardous deployments abroad.
The Armed Forces promises to report every two weeks on illnesses of its members deployed in nursing homes.
