When the prime minister, premiers and territorial leaders hold their weekly, virtual meeting tonight, Justin Trudeau says they’ll discuss ramping up testing right away.
”Precisely about how we can scale up testing immediately in places where it’s necessary, like in Ontario and Quebec,” adds the prime minister.
Ontario completed just over 10,500 tests Wednesday; the fourth straight day it’s fallen shy of its goal of completing at least 16,000-per-day.
”We don’t want logistical or financial limitations to keep anywhere in this country held back from doing all the testing that is necessary.”
Even in parts of the country with a low number of new cases, Trudeau says governments need to be able to quickly increase their testing capacity to detect and control any flare-ups.
