After helping out for a month and a half, members of the Canadian Armed Forces will be leaving Eatonville Care Centre in Etobicoke where 43 residents died during a COVID-19 outbreak which is now over.

In a statement, the executive director of Eatonville says 138 residents and 106 staff have fully recovered from COVID-19.

The military was deployed to five long term care homes in Ontario, including Eatonville, at the end of April as all grappled with severe COVID-19 outbreaks.

Observations by military members were outlined in a damning report made public May 26th, in which they claimed there were significant staffing shortages and a lack of personal protective equipment. They also detailed disturbing neglect and abuse of residents.
