FORD VOWS RETAIL STATUTORY HOLIDAYS WILL NOT BE REDUCED

The province is not going ahead with a proposal, that suggested reducing the number of statutory holidays for retail workers from nine to three.
Doug Ford making it quite clear.
”No we aren’t doing that,” the premier stated emphatically.
”I think people should spend time with their families … As much as the malls would be packed, I just think people need to take a break nine times a year.  So it’s not happening.”
One senior government official says it was just ”a proposal from a stakeholder,” that ”never got to cabinet and has not been discussed at any high level.”
Jerry Dias, president of Unifor, Canada’s largest private sector union, who spoke with the premier and labour minister Friday morning, says he’s ”pleased” by the decision.
