The union that represents many of Ontario’s front line retail workers is slamming the Ford Government over plans it says will reduce statutory holidays from nine to three for that segment of the labour market.
Unifor says, under proposed legislation, retail workers will get Christmas Day, Good Friday and Canada Day off as statutory holidays when the Ford Government opens retail shopping on the other other six stats.
This comes as as many major retailers are eliminating the $2.00 an hour pandemic pay bump that was announced in March.
