The Juno Awards were one of the first casualties as the COVID-19 pandemic started to unfold.
The celebration of Canadian music was slated to take place back in March in Saskatoon. Show organizers had to quickly cancel as the potential scale of the pandemic became clear.
The 49th Junos will be streamed tonight without much of the fanfare that usually accompanies the event. There won’t be a lack of star power, however, as the show must go on with a lineup of familiar Canadian faces among the presenters.
Awards will be handed out in 42 categories. Toronto Raptors’ Chris Boucher and two-time Juno winner Jessie Reyez are among those who will help celebrate winners in the country’s biggest night for music.
