Canada’s job market continues to rebound from the lows seen when businesses across the country were shut at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in March and April.
The latest jobs report showed nearly a million new jobs gained in June surpassing the 700-thousand forecast by economists.
In all, 953,000 new jobs were added.
The unemployment rate fell to 12.3% after May’s record high of 13.7%.
There’s still a long way to go in the nation’s recovery. The country is still two-million jobs down from before the pandemic.
Canada’s unemployment rate stood at 5.6% before businesses were shuttered due to the arrival of the novel coronavirus.
