In the first public opinion survey since questions arose concerning the federal government’s; and Justin Trudeau’s family ties to WE Charity, the prime minister’s approval rating has slipped 5%.
A new Angus Reid Institute survey indicates half of respondents (50%) approve of his performance, while nearly just as many (48%) do not.
That’s down from Trudeau’s 55% approval in May but still considerably higher over his pre-COVID approval in February (33%).
But the proportion voicing strong disapproval (34%) doubles those voicing strong support (16%) which is mainly attributable to non-Liberals.
While 91% of party voters approve of the PM, his approval’s down 9% among NDP voters and 7% among Conservative voters since May.
