As we head into the last long weekend of the summer, the colder weather and holidays bring with them new pandemic concerns as more of us take gatherings and events indoors.
”Any long weekend, we have to keep reminding the public and everyone keep reminding themselves that whatever you do, every single person’s behaviour counts,” says Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer.
Dr. Theresa Tam says Canadians should ask themselves about their risk factors and about the location of the event or activity they’re thinking of attending.
With a noticeable increase in cases from earlier in the summer, and schools about to reopen, she says downloading the government’s COVID Alert app is one way to reduce the risks of catching and spreading the virus.
Currently, it’s only operational in Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador.
