Canada’s at a ”crossroads” in its COVID-19 battle and the actions of Canadians will determine whether there’s a big spike in cases to come.
That’s the message from the country’s top public health officials who warn if we don’t take preventative measures, the virus could spiral out of control and trigger a wave of infections bigger than the first one.
Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam believes what young Canadians do or don’t do will play a crucial role.
”I’m making a special call out to young Canadians to say ‘We need your ingenuity and your drive because we won’t get COVID-19 back on the slow burn track without your help.’ This is your generation, this is your time. You’ve got this. Let’s work together and own this pandemic.”
Asked if there could be another round of lockdowns, Dr. Tam says it will largely depend on the behaviour of Canadians now.
