On this first of October, we’re commemorating National Seniors Day here at ZoomerMedia, with a special online production hosted by CARP – A New Vision of Aging.

It’s the largest virtual meeting of seniors across Canada and it begins at 1pm local time on CARP’s website.

It will include some words of wisdom and a call to action by ZoomerMedia Founder and CARP President Moses Znaimer.

The guest list of speakers also includes Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, longtime Former Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion, Colin Mochrie, and Michael Pinball Clemons among other notable Zoomers.

CARP’s Interim Chief Policy Officer Bill VanGorder says the event will be highlighted by CARP’s long term care advocacy.

“Following the 45 minute national production, here in Ontario we’re going to have our own Ontario focused discussion on what we could do about fixing long term care, adding home care and making our province a better place to live,” explained VanGorder.

More than 82 percent of COVID-19 related deaths in Canada have been connected to long term care homes.
