With another long winter ahead of us, a new reminder to try to fit in exercise and limit sedentary activity in this era of physical distancing.

The “24-hour movement” guidelines spell out how much time people aged 18 to 64 should spend on various activities. The guidelines lay out how much time adults should spend in front of a screen, sedentary, sleeping and active.
“I think what’s new is that before previous guidelines were out there before, we’ve looked at the behaviours individually or the interplay or connection between all three,” said physical activity researcher Dr. Leigh Vanderloo to Zoomer Radio’s Libby Znaimer.
Under the guidelines, adults should get seven to nine hours of sleep per day, and accumulate at least 150 minutes per week of moderate to vigorous physical activity.
Screen time should be capped at three hours and sedentary activity at eight hours.
