As of 12:01 Monday morning, York Region joined Toronto, Peel and Ottawa in a modified stage 2 of the province’s pandemic plan.

The stricter public health measures mean indoor dining is banned, gyms and movie theatres are closed and public gatherings can be no larger than 10 people indoors or 25 people outdoors.
The measures will be in effect for 28 days; two incubation cycles for the new coronavirus.
Health Minister Christine Elliott has acknowledged the difficulties associated with this new plan.
“We know we are asking very real sacrifices of Ontarians,” Elliott explained on Friday, “But this is about potentially preventing something much worse. We need to act now, to keep our schools open, to protect our seniors and our loved ones in long term care and to avoid the need for harsher measures in the future.”
Toronto, Peel and Ottawa have been in the modified stage 2 restrictions since October 10th.
