While indoor dining, gyms and movie theatres reopen with new COVID-19 related restrictions Saturday in Peel, York Region and Ottawa, Toronto residents will have to wait another week to take part in these activities.
But even once doors reopen safely for these venues on November 14th in Toronto, the city’s mayor says the rules around gatherings in private homes are not changing for now.

John Tory explained Friday morning, he hopes things will be able to change for Christmas, but right now, you should not be gathering with people in your own home that don’t live with you.
“That is the existing advice, so I hope people do really keep that in mind. Wear a mask, wash your hands, avoid crowd scenes, keep your distance and socialize with people that you live with,” Tory advised, “I guess what we’ll have to see is whether we can make a positive change away from that and to a more expansive Christmas-type celebration as we get closer to that date.”
Public health experts have been trying to get away from the idea of social bubbles, and instead are encouraging people to gather only with those who live in the same household.
