Even as some remain set on heading south for the winter, Justin Trudeau believes Canadians are safest at home.
”Obviously, if people do choose to go that is their choice,” says the prime minister.
”But they need to make sure they have good health insurance, good travel insurance. Also that they make sure that wherever they’re going, there is sufficient healthcare capacity that is beginning not to get overwhelmed, if something goes wrong.”
Meanwhile, the prime minister says Canadians; regardless of age, need to double down on caution until a COVID vaccine is widely available.
In particular, Trudeau’s warning young Canadians that the pandemic is not something for their grandparents to worry about.
Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam says the number of new cases and hospitalizations continues rising, with concerning developments.
Dr. Tam says the number of patients with severe COVID-related illness is climbing, with those over 80 having the highest incidence rate.
