Ontario’s Premier appears to be ready to heed the advice of the medical officers of health in both Toronto and Peel Region.
Doug Ford hinted on Wednesday he’s ready to announce on Friday, some form of lockdown for Ontario’s COVID-19 hotspots.

Toronto’s top doctor, Eileen de Villa, says this plan will reduce the spread of the virus.
“Measures that we can take, restrictions that we can take together, particularly if done across jurisdictions, that actually limit the likelihood for people to come into close contact with each other in crowds or in congregate groups and in closed settings,” Dr. de Villa explained on Wednesday.
In Peel Region, Medical Officer of Health Dr. Lawrence Loh says he’s recommended the same because “we’re running out of time.”
The warning comes as Peel Region reports a COVID-19 test positivity rate of 11.8 percent, by far the highest in the province and more than double the provincial rate.
Toronto, Hamilton, along with the regions of Peel, York and Halton are all in the red control zone of restrictions. The red zone is the final step before a complete lockdown.
On Wednesday, 410 new infections were reported in Toronto, 463 in Peel Region, 187 in York Region, 63 in Halton and 54 in Hamilton.
