Despite positive late stage trial results for a COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer and Moderna, Canadians are no more willing to roll up their sleeves than they were two months ago.
In fact, a just released Angus Reid Institute survey finds they are less willing to get one as soon as possible than in July, when the development and success of a vaccine was far from certain.
Two-in-five Canadians (40%) say they’d get a shot as soon as possible.
Nearly as many (36%) are more cautious, saying they’d wait for others to go first and immunize later.
A consistent 15% say they will not get vaccinated, while one-in-ten (9%) are uncertain.
These numbers are essentially unchanged from mid-summer.
Seven-in-ten (68%) say they’re concerned about catching COVID-19; unchanged from late September.
Almost half of Canadians (48%) say restrictions in their province should be stronger, rising to 67% in Ontario.
