On the eve of the anniversary of the Paris Climate Agreement, the alarm bells continue to ring that there’s still a lot more action needed to remedy the climate crisis.

Saturday marks the fifth anniversary of the agreement’s signing.

The deal, signed by 196 countries including Canada, was a promise to fight climate change.

But a United Nations annual report released this week says greenhouse gas emissions have continued to grow — even reaching record levels in 2019.

Despite the numbers, Greenpeace says the climate movement is getting stronger, especially among young people.

Just today, European Union leaders agreed to cut carbon emissions by 55% compared to 1990 levels by 2030.
