Toronto Mayor John Tory says this Christmas will be different with people advised to only keep celebrations confined to only with other people in the household.
But he sees reasons to be optimistic looking into next year and hopefully more normal celebrations next year.
“Even in the dark and cold that are such a feature at this time of year, even in the face of the tragedy and sacrifice that has marked the pandemic we are still experiencing, this is a time for joy, for celebration, for Thanksgiving and for hope,” said Tory.
A province wide lockdown kicks in on Boxing Day in Ontario.
Premier Doug Ford shared a Christmas Eve video that didn’t share his holiday message but just as a reminder to follow best practices to celebrate.
“Every time you take a trip, it puts people in Jeopardy,” said Ford. “Please, stay at home when you can. Only go out to get groceries, or for medical appointments or necessary trips.”
