Scarborough Southwest MPP Dolly Begum will host a virtual town hall tonight discussing the ongoing outbreak at the Tendercare Living Centre located in her riding.
60 people have died in the outbreak there so far and the North York General Hospital having to take over management of the facility.
Begum is inviting Long Term Care Minister Dr. Merrilee Fullerton to join the event.
“Family members will be hearing their stories, asking questions,” Begum said in a video posted to social media. “The Minister will have an opportunity to answer peoples’ questions and listen to the proposal to fix the crisis in homes like Tendercare.”
There’s been no word from Fullerton’s office on whether she’ll attend the event.
The town hall comes with the death toll rising in Tendercare and more new outbreaks being declared in Ontario’s long term care homes.
207 homes in the province have declared outbreaks. That’s 19 more more than in the province’s update on Saturday.
