American singer Bobby Vee was born on this day. He began is career amidst tragedy, filling in for the recently deceased Buddy Holly at the ‘Winter Dance Party’.

Things really took off for Bobby Vee in the early 60s – filling in the gap between the birth of rock and roll and the British Invasion with sweet pop songs including his No. 1 hit, ‘Take Good Care of My Baby.’

Here is the video for his 1962 hit ‘The Night Has 1000 Eyes’ that peaked at #3 on the charts.
