On September 24, 1964 The Temptations were in the studio recording their single My Girl.

This hit went on to become their first No.1 hit and the first of fifteen hits that would be in the top ten list. The song was written by musicians Smokey Robinson and Ronald White. Robinson says that the inspiration behind the lyrics was his wife.

In 2004, My Girl ranked No.88 on Rolling Stones magazine’s top 500 hits of all time list.
