THIS MORNING MINISTER OF TRANSPORTATION, STEVEN DEL DUCA, ANNOUNCED A NEW PILOT PROJECT: HIGH OCCUPANCY TOLL (HOT) LANES WHICH WILL BE COMING TO THE QEW ON SEPT. 15TH. MOTORISTS WHO WIN PERMITS IN A DRAW AND PAY $60 A MONTH TO DRIVE WITHOUT PASSENGERS IN LANES RESERVED FOR HIGH-OCCUPANCY VEHICLES. THIS MEANS THESE MOTORISTS WILL BE ABLE TO PAY TO DRIVE WITHOUT PASSENGERS ON HIGH-OCCUPANCY VEHICLE LANES ALONG THE QUEEN ELIZABETH WAY BEGINNING THIS SEPTEMBER. THE COST? $180 FOR THE PERMIT WHICH WILL BE VALID BETWEEN SEPT. 15 AND DEC. 31ST. THE HOT LANES ARE PART OF A PILOT PROJECT ON THE QEW BETWEEN TRAFALGAR ROAD IN OAKVILLE AND GUELPH LINE IN BURLINGTON.
