October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In Canada, only about 16% of women get breast reconstruction after mastectomy, even though it’s fully covered by provincial health care plans. In the U.S. the number is more than double that, so clearly there’s a really big need for more awareness in Canada. We speak with breast reconstruction surgeon, Dr Mitch Brown, and Dana Kendal, a Toronto breast cancer survivor and therapist.
