On February 21st almost 100 Liberal MPs offices across the country will be presented with a petition to support “super-priority” for pensioners, signed by over 30,000 concerned citizens,” said Wanda Morris, CARP’s VP of advocacy. “Canadians are determined to send a message to our government that pensioners cannot be ignored. It’s time for leadership. It’s time to change the law to protect pensioners.” The National Day of Action, organized by CARP and supported by its partners:The Canadian Federation of Pensioners, SCRC (Sears Canada Retiree Association), The Canadian Labour Congress and Lead now. More than 2,000 volunteers and pensioners have signed up to-date to deliver our Pension Protection Petition and supporting information. The government cannot afford to stay silent on the issue of pension protection. Marissa Semkiw, Policy and Government Relations for CARP joins guest host Bob Komsic in studio and he also spoke with Mike Powell, the President of CFP and a GENMO Salaried Pension Organization and we heard Sears pensioner Lorne Stewart’s unique and touching story.
