The City of Toronto says there is a price to pay for the 25 per cent of blue box contents that are not recyclables and are projecting it will cost an extra 9.2 million dollars this year because of increased recycling contamination and decreased revenue in sales.
Toronto’s Public Works and Infrastructure Committee will be looking at both the cost increase and the blue box program at its meeting this week. We speak Councillor Jaye Robinson for Ward 25—Don Valley West and she’s also the Chair of the Transportation, Public Works and Infrastructure Committee about the confusion among the public as to how to properly recycle, raccoons getting into our new and improved green bins and more!
