Cases of Lyme disease in Canada are rising as the black legged tick populations grow.  Health officials are urging the public to take precautions while enjoying the outdoors this summer. Experts warn about the risks of infected ticks transmitting Lyme disease, a potentially debilitating infection that can result in heart problems, extreme fatigue and nervous system disorders. In Ontario, about 20 to 25 % of ticks carry the infectious bacteria. Libby speaks with Dr. Janet Sperling who studies Canadian ticks and is a board member of the Canadian Lyme Disease Foundation as well as 4 year Lyme disease sufferer Arlene Hill.
