The potential data breaches reported by CIBC’s “Simplii Financial” and the Bank of Montreal are just the latest cyber security incidents involving Canadians. The banks are warning fraudsters may have accessed personal and financial information from some customers and say they have taken steps to close off exposures related to customer data. Both banks say they will be contacting clients, and are recommending customers monitor their accounts and notify their financial institution about any suspicious activity. Libby speaks with Queens University Professor David Murakami Wood, the Chair in Surveillance Studies and Cyber Security expert Terry Cutler.
