Justin Trudeau says he will not play politics over immigration policies when it comes to the controversial U.S. practice. Trudeau says his role as prime minister is to stand up for Canadian values while maintaining a constructive relationship with the US.
NDP immigration critic Jenny Kwan has urged Trudeau to respond by suspending Canada’s Safe Third Country agreement with the US. She told the Commons yesterday “If there was ever a time for Canada to step up, the moment is now.” Libby speaks with Immigration Lawyer Guidy Mamann and the Executive Director at the Canadian Council for Refugees, Janet Dench.
