Canadian air travelers who face flight delays or are denied a seat due to overbooking will now be eligible for compensation under Ottawa’s proposed passenger bill of rights.
Transport Minister Marc Garneau says the goal is to provide travelers with the fair and balanced rights they deserve. The public can comment on the proposals until late February with final regulations expected by the spring and implementation by the summer. Libby spoke with Ken Wong, associate professor at Queen’s University who specializes in consumer behaviour and Heather Craig -Peddie VP Advocacy for the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies.
