Libby Znaimer is joined by Jeff Yurek, Ontario Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, Annette Synowiec, Director of Policy at Toronto Solid Waste Management Services, Keith Brooks, Programs Director at Environmental Defence, and Councillor James Pasternak, Chair of the Infrastructure and Environment Committee.

Torontonians have been using blue bins for the last 30 years as a system to dispose of their plastic waste.

David Lindsay, special advisor on the management of recycling and plastics, released a report that indicates that 30 percent of that waste ends up in landfills.

Now, the blue bin program is set for an overhaul by the Ford government. Ontario Minister of the Environment Jeff Yurek wants to shift the burden from our cities.
