It’s the latest food fight among researchers and if you are confused about what you should eat for your health, you are not alone! For years we’ve been told that red meat, especially processed red meat is bad and we should cut way back. Well, now, a big international study led by Canadian scientists is calling that into question. Their conclusion is that eating less red and processed meats will have little impact on reducing your risk of heart disease, cancer and other diseases that have been linked these foods. Their bottom line: keep doing what you’re doing and eating what you eat! Their argument after reviewing studies involving millions of people around the world is that the evidence is weak, it’s based on large populations, and can’t really be drilled down to individual risk. This was published in the Annals of Internal Medicine and the backlash was swift – certainly in the U.S. – The American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and other groups have savaged the findings and the journal that published them. So where does that leave us?

Libby and guests discuss.
