11:3am EST | Dr. Angela Troyer

GUEST – Dr. Angela Troyer, Program Director of Neuropsychology and Cognitive Health, and professional practice chief of Psychology at Baycrest.

TOPIC – Three of our neuropsychologists at Baycrest have written a book on Mild Cognitive Impairment – aimed at people with MCI and their families + physicians.

INFO – Dr. Angela Troyer is one of the co-authors of the new book – “Living with Mild Cognitive Impairment”.
500,000 Canadians 65-and-older have MCI, but many don’t even know it because they’ve never pursued a diagnosis. MCI is a strong risk marker for later developing Alzheimer’s, but not everyone with MCI will progress to Alzheimer’s. There is a huge need for education and awareness to help older adults recognize the warning signs and get in to see their doctor if they’re experiencing cognitive changes that don’t seem normal. There’s also a huge stigma attached to MCI. People who are diagnosed with it typically don’t want work colleagues /friends, even family members, to know they have the condition.
