GUEST – Billy Cheung, GFB Pharmacist and Past Chair of Ontario Pharmacists’ Association Board of Directors
TOPIC – Billy was thinking of talking about medications and sun – what medications make people more sensitive to sun, medication safety and storage in summer months – as well as some general sun safety tips. Given that it’s the start of summer, should be a timely topic.
INFO – Did you know that your pharmacist is a great resource to help you stay safe and healthy during the sunny summer months? Pharmacist Billy Cheung will talk about how you can stay protected in the sun, stay safe from heat stroke and dehydration, and what you need to be aware of when it comes to your prescription and over-the-counter medications and the sun.

GUEST -Erin Weir, Economist, United Steelworkers
TOPIC – Dead Money Keeps Growing.
INFO -The National Balance Sheet Accounts released by Statistics Canada today indicate that private non-financial corporations increased their cash holdings from $621 billion at the end of 2013 to $630 billion in the first quarter of 2014. Corporate Canada’s cash hoard remains larger than the federal government’s accumulated deficit.
Private non-financial corporations in Canada have added nearly $100 billion of currency and deposits to their stockpile just since the end of 2012. This accumulation of dead money helps explain the lack of business investment despite record corporate profits. It casts serious doubt on the economic and social value of recent corporate tax cuts.
