Internationally renowned author JK Rowling has accepted a substantial donation to charity from the law firm that leaked the news that she had written a spy novel under a pseudonym.
The front-page story made headlines worldwide and Rowling’s lawyer says her client was ” very much aggravated by repeated speculation that the leak had been a carefully co-ordinated publicity stunt by her, her agent and her publishers designed to increase sales.”
The statement also says the author “has been left dismayed and distressed by such a fundamental betrayal of trust.”
The offending law firm has issued a public apology and says all worldwide net royalties from book sales of “The Cuckoo’s Calling” will be donated to The Soldiers’ Charity for a period of three years, dating from July 14th.
That’s the day that fictional author Robert Galbraith was exposed and identified to be the creator of Harry Potter – JK Rowling.
