An Arizona woman is expected to be sentenced to time served in Alberta today for aiding the suicide of her 79-year-old mother. 53 year old Linda Jean McNall made a suicide pact with her mother, Shirley Vann, before the pair left the U.S.for Rock Lake, Alberta last May. They said they wanted to die in “the most beautiful place on earth.” They pitched a tent near Hinton, injected themselves and their two pet dogs with insulin, swallowed some sleeping pills and opened a propane tank. The mother and the animals died, but McNall survived. Court has heard a doctor wants McNall transferred to a U-S hospital to continue treatment for depression. However, complicating matters is the fact that McNall has no US medical insurance and no facility will accept her unless someone sponsors her.
