Rare paintings by Monet and Renoir are among 400 items to be auctioned this spring.

The precious artworks come from a reclusive copper heiress’s private collection.

The Huguette Clark Collection sale at Christie’s will proceed after a feud over Clark’s estate was settled last autumn.

Some of the valuable works were acquired by her father William A Clark – a Montana copper king, railroad baron and senator – who founded Las Vegas.

Monet’s “Water Lilies” is estimated to bring up to $35 million at the sale in May.

Another masterpiece in the sale is Renoir’s “Young Women Playing Badminton.” It has a presale estimate ranging up to $15 million.

Other items from the collection go on sale in June and include a Stradivari violin and rare books.
