The Toronto District School Board is now reviewing the status of 60 underutilized schools as part of a plan to sell under used facilities and use that money to repair some of the board’s aging buildings. Following a Monday night meeting, board chair Shaun Chen said nothing will be done without consultation with parents and other stake holders in the city. The board needs to spend about $5 billion on repairs by 2025. The board is facing a provincially imposed February 13th deadline to come up with a 3 year plan to reduce its underutilized space.
