As the book world awaits this week’s release of a second Harper Lee novel, news has emerged that the author had plans to write a string of novels after “To Kill A Mockingbird”.  That is according to a letter she wrote in 1958, to friend Joy Brown who, along with her husband Michael, had given Lee the money needed to leave her job and focus on writing.  In the letter, two years before “Mockingbird” came out in 1960, she listed six ideas that she thought would occupy her for the next 15 years.  Among the topics: a race novel, a Victorian novel, a novel of the United Nations and one focused on India in 1910.  Lee hasn’t written a full novel since To Kill A Mockingbird’s success, however, a manuscript she wrote before that book, “Go Set A Watchman” will be published tomorrow.
