The Mayor’s Task Force on Toronto Community Housing has released its final report with 29 recommendations.
They focus on improving the living conditions of T-C-H-C residents, restructuring the organization to make it financially sustainable while increasing the amount of affordable housing in the city.
Mayor John Tory says, ”We need to do better by our Toronto Community Housing tenants and that means taking action to fundamentally change the organization.”
He appointed the six-person Housing Task Force last January.
It was headed by Senator Art Eggleton, the former mayor who told Zoomer Radio’s ”Goldhawk Fights Back,” soon after the reports release that it’s called ‘Transformative Change’ for good reason.
“It has undergone a lot of turmoil over the years. It’s been a crisis building up for some 30 years in terms of affordable, social housing in Toronto. So it’s time to turn the page and give it a fresh start.”
The report goes to the city’s Executive Committee Thursday.
