Security for Nathan Phillips Square will be increased but Toronto city hall won’t get metal detectors right now – if at all.

City council’s voted 39-1 in favour of recommendations from Mayor John Tory, who says there’s consensus on protecting the square from attackers in vehicles.
But Tory says metal detectors at the front door were ”too intrusive”.
The city will consult with the public before taking any other security measures.
