In addition to the City of Toronto’s six winter respite locations, Mayor John Tory’s announced two 24/7 warming centres will be open as of 7 p.m. tonight and will be open as long as the current Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect.

The centres are located at Metro Hall, 55 John Street and Regent Park Community Centre, 402 Shuter Street.
Capacity and staff resources have been enhanced at the Better Living Centre, which opened December 21 with 100 beds, but can now accommodate up to 150.

As for the possibility the Moss Park Armoury could be used to provide additional relief for the homeless during the winter, Tory says talks to determine that are continuing and going well.
For emergency shelter, residents are urged to call 311.
