More legal trouble for Ontario’s Ford government.
It’s also facing a lawsuit from Greenpeace Canada – over the cancellation of the cap-and-trade system.

The lawsuit alleges the government unlawfully failed to hold public consultations on a regulation – and proposed legislation to cancel the program.

Greenpeace says The Environmental Bill of Rights – legislation which is unique to Ontario – states that the province’s residents have the right to be consulted on environmentally significant regulations and legislation.

Greepeace Canada says it has secured an expedited hearing – tentatively scheduled for September 21st – so the case can be heard before the cap-the-trade cancellation legislation passes.

The group’ also seeking to have the regulation revoked.
