The National Ballet of Canada will present a revamped version of the classic Swan Lake in its new season directed by 67 year-old Karen Kain, a 50-year veteran of the Toronto-based company.

The June 2020 performance will focus on the love story that’s given the ballet its emotional staying power. It’s only the second time Kain has re-staged a ballet for the company the first was “The Sleeping Beauty” in 2006. The 2019-2020 season will also feature new works including “Opheus Alive,” and award-winning ballet “Emergence.’ Audiences will also have a chance to revisit favourites such as “The Nutcracker” and “Romeo and Juliet.”
